Specialist Care
Leather, Suede
& Fur
Leather, suede, and fur are among the most unforgiving materials to clean incorrectly. Water staining, chemical damage, shrinkage, and color loss are all risks when these pieces are treated with standard dry cleaning methods.
Proper care for these materials requires the right chemistry, controlled conditions, and skilled hands that understand how different finishes and tannages respond to cleaning agents. Our process addresses soiling and odor without compromising the material’s integrity, suppleness, or finish.
We handle leather jackets and coats, suede blazers and trousers, leather and suede skirts, fine knitwear in leather or suede construction, and fur pieces. Each item is evaluated before treatment and a cleaning approach is selected accordingly.
We serve clients throughout the Hamptons from both our Wainscott and Hampton Bays locations.

Common Questions
Leather, Suede & Fur FAQ
How much does leather jacket cleaning cost?
Leather jacket cleaning starts at $115 at Sweetwater's Cleaners. Leather coats are $135, and leather pants, sweaters, or skirts are $115. Handbags start at $80. Final pricing depends on the piece and its condition, confirmed after inspection.
Can leather and suede be dry cleaned?
Leather and suede require specialist cleaning, not conventional dry cleaning. The material must be cleaned and then reconditioned to restore suppleness and color, a process that differs entirely from garment dry cleaning. We handle leather, suede, and fur with the specific care each material demands.
Do you clean fur?
Yes. We clean and condition fur using methods appropriate to the pelt, protecting the natural oils that keep fur supple. Fur also benefits from cold storage between seasons, which we offer to protect against moths and heat.
Will cleaning remove stains and odors from leather?
Professional leather cleaning addresses surface soil, body oils, and odor that build up with wear, and restores the finish. Some stains that have penetrated deeply may not fully lift, which is why early attention matters. Bring the piece in promptly rather than letting a mark set.
