Built on a
Single Standard
Sweetwater's Cleaners opened in Wainscott in 2004 with a clear purpose: to provide the Hamptons with the level of garment care that the community and its wardrobes deserved.
From the beginning, the choice to operate as a French-style cleaner was deliberate. French-style cleaning means every garment is pressed by hand. There is no machine pressing, no shortcuts, and no exceptions based on the day of the week or the size of the order.
Over twenty years later, the standard has not changed. We are locally owned and operated. Our staff knows the work, respects the garments, and treats every piece as if it belongs to someone who cares about it, because it does.
We expanded to Hampton Bays to serve the western end of the East End under the SWC Clean & Tailor name. The same method. The same standard.

Done by Hand
The equipment matters. The chemistry matters. But in a French-style operation, the most important element is the person doing the pressing.
Our pressers work each garment individually, selecting the right attachment, temperature, and technique for the fabric beneath their hands. A tailored suit shoulder is handled differently than a silk blouse or a cashmere sweater. Experience is what separates one from the other.
Our seamstress brings the same care to alterations. Whether it is a simple hem or a structural repair on a garment worth keeping, the work is done with precision and patience.
