Dry Cleaning
Done Properly

Dry cleaning at Sweetwater's Cleaners is not a commodity service. Each garment is examined individually before treatment: fabric, construction, lining, and soiling are all assessed before a single solvent touches the piece.

We handle everything from fine tailored suits and structured blazers to delicate silk blouses, cashmere sweaters, formal gowns, and technical outerwear. If the care label says dry clean, we know how to clean it.

Our process uses a gentle, organic solvent that is safe for delicate fabrics and free of the harsh petrochemicals found in conventional dry cleaning. It cleans thoroughly without the aggressive treatment that can weaken fibers, fade color, or compromise construction over time.

After cleaning, every garment is hand pressed by a skilled presser using the appropriate tools and technique for that specific fabric and construction. A machine press applies uniform heat and pressure indiscriminately. Our pressers do not. A structured jacket shoulder receives different treatment than a pleated trouser or a chiffon dress. This is what French-style cleaning means in practice.

We serve clients throughout the Hamptons from our primary location in Wainscott, where all cleaning is performed onsite, and from our SWC Clean & Tailor location in Hampton Bays.

Rush service is available for same-day and next-day needs, subject to an additional surcharge. All final pricing is confirmed after garment inspection by our staff.

If anything is ever lost or damaged in our care, we make it right - no forms, no runaround, no fine print. Just a conversation and a resolution.

Dry Cleaning FAQ

What is French-style dry cleaning?

French-style dry cleaning means every garment is finished entirely by hand after cleaning. A skilled presser uses the appropriate tools, temperature, and technique for each specific fabric and construction. Machine presses apply uniform heat and pressure indiscriminately, which can crush delicate textures, flatten dimensional details, and damage structured garments. Hand pressing preserves the integrity of the piece.

Do you use PERC in your dry cleaning process?

No. Sweetwater's Cleaners uses a gentle organic solvent that is free of perchloroethylene (PERC) and the harsh petrochemicals found in conventional dry cleaning. Our solvent cleans thoroughly while being safe for delicate fabrics and kinder to fibers over time.

How long does dry cleaning take?

Standard turnaround at our Wainscott and Hampton Bays locations is typically 2 to 3 business days. Rush service for same-day and next-day turnaround is available at an additional surcharge, subject to volume at the time of drop-off.

Do you hand press every garment?

Yes. Every garment cleaned at Sweetwater's Cleaners is hand pressed before return. This is what separates French-style cleaning from commodity dry cleaning. Each presser is trained to read the garment and apply the right technique for that specific piece.

What types of garments do you dry clean?

We clean fine tailored suits, structured blazers, dress shirts, silk blouses, cashmere sweaters, formal gowns, evening wear, technical outerwear, and anything else with a dry clean label. We also handle specialty items including leather, suede, fur, and wedding gowns.
